Pricing & Booking
How much does auto detailing cost in Rapid City?
A full interior and exterior detail on a sedan or mid-size SUV runs $245 to $395. Paint correction starts at $595. Multi-year ceramic coatings range from $1,200 for a 2-year system to $3,500 for the 9-year manufacturer-backed package. Headlight restoration is $149 per pair. Motorcycle, RV, and boat services run $199 to $1,400.
Is the quoted price the final price?
Yes. Every quote we deliver is flat-priced and written based on a walk-around assessment. The price does not change at the end unless you approve an add-on in writing first. We never deliver a quote and then discover surprise charges during the work.
Do you offer a military discount?
Yes. Active-duty, reserve, retired, and dependent military families at Ellsworth AFB receive 10% off every service with valid ID. The discount applies to full details, ceramic coatings, paint correction, headlight restoration, and motorcycle and RV work.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Full details and headlight restoration typically book within 3 to 7 days. Paint correction and ceramic coatings book 1 to 3 weeks out depending on shop capacity. Sturgis Rally-week motorcycle slots must be booked by mid-June. PCS-move details for Ellsworth AFB families often get same-day or next-day slots because we hold reserve capacity.
Do you charge for the initial quote?
No. Quotes are 100% free with no obligation. We do an in-person walk-around or accept text photos, assess paint and interior condition, scope the right service, and deliver a written flat quote the same business day in most cases.
How do I pay?
Credit card on file is the default. We charge after the service is complete and the customer has done a final walk-around. ACH and check are also accepted. Fleet customers (limo, livery, ranch trucks) can opt for monthly billing.
Do you offer mobile detailing across Rapid City and the Black Hills?
Yes for full details, headlight restoration, and motorcycle services across Rapid City, Box Elder, Black Hawk, Summerset, and Piedmont. Ceramic coatings and full multi-stage paint correction require the shop because surface temperature, humidity, and cure time matter. We can pick up and deliver the vehicle if needed.
Ceramic Coating
What is a ceramic coating?
A ceramic coating is a hard, transparent layer of silica-based resin (typically 9H on the pencil-hardness scale) that chemically bonds to your clear-coat at the molecular level. Once cured, it forms a hydrophobic, UV-stable, chemically-resistant shell that protects against road salt, UV oxidation, bug acid, tree sap, and bird droppings for 2 to 9 years depending on the system.
Is a ceramic coating worth it in the Black Hills?
Yes for most Black Hills owners. Calcium chloride road salt is brutal on clear-coat through six months of winter, and high-elevation UV at 3,200 feet bleaches pigment on south-facing vehicles. A ceramic protects against both for years at an amortized cost of $240 to $400 per year, which is less than most wash subscriptions. The protection more than pays for itself by year three.
How long does a ceramic coating actually last?
Our 2-year coating holds beading and protection for 2.5 to 3 years in real-world Black Hills conditions. The 5-year system holds 5 to 7 years. The 9-year manufacturer-backed system commonly outlasts the warranty if the vehicle is hand-washed and not run through automatic brush washes. Every coating includes a written aftercare guide.
Do you need paint correction before a ceramic coating?
Almost always yes. A ceramic coating locks in whatever is on the paint at the time of application. If swirls, holograms, or oxidation are present, they get sealed under the coating for the life of the warranty. We do a single-stage correction at minimum on every coating prep, and multi-stage correction is required on older or heavily-marred vehicles.
Can ceramic coatings be applied mobile?
No. Coatings require a controlled bay because surface temperature, humidity, dust, and cure time all matter. A mobile job in a driveway cannot meet the temperature window or keep dust out during cure. We bring the vehicle to our shop in Rapid City, hold it for a 12 to 24-hour cure, and deliver back when ready.
What aftercare does a ceramic coating need?
Hand wash only with a pH-neutral ceramic-safe soap. Avoid automatic brush washes because the brushes leave swirls in the coating. Annual maintenance polish from us keeps the manufacturer warranty active and extends the life of the coating. Touchless washes between hand-washes are fine. Full aftercare guide provided on delivery.
What does the manufacturer-backed warranty actually cover?
The warranty covers loss of hydrophobic properties, UV-induced clear-coat oxidation under the coating, and certain chemical-etch damage during the warranty term. Manufacturer warranty is contingent on annual maintenance polish and hand-wash-only aftercare. We document every install with photos and registration so warranty claims are processed cleanly.
Detail Services & Scope
What is included in a full interior and exterior detail?
Two-bucket hand wash, iron remover, clay-bar decontamination, wheel and tire detail, door jambs and gas-cap recess, hot-water carpet extraction, leather condition, dash and console detail, interior glass polish, exterior glass polish, single-stage machine polish, and a 4 to 6-month sealant. Full details run 4 to 9 hours depending on vehicle size.
How is paint correction different from polish?
Polish is a single-step refresh that improves the look for a few months and adds some gloss. Paint correction is a controlled multi-stage abrasive process that removes the microscopic top layer of clear-coat to permanently eliminate swirls, holograms, oxidation, and hazing. Correction takes 6 to 30 hours depending on stages, and the result is permanent until new damage accumulates.
Can you remove pet hair and odor from the interior?
Yes. Pet hair extraction uses dedicated rubber brushes and high-vacuum tools that lift hair vacuum suction alone cannot. Odor remediation uses enzymatic cleaners on carpet and upholstery, ozone treatment on the cabin, and HVAC vent treatment if needed. Heavy pet jobs add 1 to 3 hours to a full detail.
Do you handle paint protection film?
Yes, on high-impact panels like the hood, front fenders, mirror caps, and front bumper. PPF is a clear urethane film that absorbs rock chips and abrasion that even a ceramic coating cannot stop. Pricing runs $695 to $1,495 for a typical front-end PPF package. Often paired with a ceramic coating over the top for the best protection profile.
Will headlight restoration last more than a few weeks?
Yes. Our three-stage wet-sand, machine polish, and two-part UV-stable clear-coat process lasts 3 to 5 years in real Black Hills conditions. The cheap store-bought kits last 1 to 4 weeks because they skip the clear-coat step. Without UV protection, the underlying polycarbonate re-oxidizes almost immediately under high-elevation South Dakota sun.
Do you work on classic cars and single-stage paint?
Yes. Classic cars and single-stage paint require specific products and approach. We carry the right compounds for aging single-stage finishes, use lower-pressure machine polishing on older paint systems, and inspect before quoting. Hot Springs, Piedmont, and Hermosa send us a lot of classic-car work.
Sturgis / RV / Boat / Special Events
Can you handle Sturgis Rally bike prep?
Yes, this is one of our core services. Rally prep includes full chrome polish, leather seat and saddlebag conditioning, paint decontamination, tank and fairing ceramic coating, and exhaust wipedown. Book by late June for guaranteed Rally-week slots. We also handle Rally-aftermath cleans the week after for bug-storm and rain-grit accumulation.
When should I book for Sturgis Rally week?
Mid-June at the latest. Our Rally-week capacity is reserved each year and fills up fast. Out-of-state riders often book in April and May. We hold a small block of slots for repeat customers from prior years. Post-Rally cleans the week after Rally are easier to schedule on shorter notice.
How much does RV detailing in the Black Hills cost?
A wash and exterior detail on a Class C runs $295 to $495. A Class A with light oxidation runs $495 to $895. Heavy oxidation removal with wet-sand and compound cut on a 35 to 40-foot Class A runs $895 to $1,400. Interior detail, roof inspection, and slide-seal condition can be scoped together. Free quote at your storage location.
Can you detail boats at Pactola or Angostura?
Yes, mobile boat detailing is available at most Black Hills boat slips, storage lots, and launch ramps including Pactola Reservoir, Angostura Reservoir, and Sylvan Lake. Heavy oxidation removal and ceramic coating work is done at the shop for the controlled environment. Spring (April and May) is our heaviest boat-detail window.
Do you handle ATVs, side-by-sides, and lifted Jeeps?
Yes. The Black Hawk, Hermosa, Lead, and Hill City customer base runs heavy on these vehicles. We do post-trail cleans, full details, and ceramic coatings. Plastic-trim restoration is a frequent add-on because UV fades trim faster than paint. Dedicated post-trail wash process handles underbody, wheel-wells, and every seam.
Do you offer fleet detailing for limo, livery, or ranch trucks?
Yes. Casino limo and livery fleets in Deadwood, ranch-truck fleets in Belle Fourche and Wall, and contractor-truck fleets in Box Elder all run scheduled rotations with us. Weekly or biweekly exterior wash with monthly full detail is a common contract. Fleet rates available, quoted per vehicle and per rotation frequency.
What about post-hail detail work?
After May and June hail events we run a dedicated post-storm service that handles paint decontamination, dent assessment (we partner with paintless dent repair shops), and protective coating restoration where coatings have been impacted. We do not do bodywork ourselves but we coordinate with vetted body shops across the Black Hills.
